During a 16 night stay in our touring caravan, Moretonhampstead being the closest small town for us. The White Hart is quite possibly one of the nicest places we visited during our time away. Where to start? Staff, extremely helpful and very friendly, James the owner always seemed to be there, boots on the ground, serving drinks and meals, always time for a chat. Ambience, very tasteful decor, everything to a very high standard, decorated with flair and in keeping with the delightful building. Food, we ate here three times, one meal being Sunday lunch, the best roast dinner we have had in a very long time. Hot, perfectly cooked meats and vegetables and gravy granny would be proud of! James and his partner should be very proud of what they have achieved with this beautiful hotel, bar and restaurant. Big bonus is dogs are very welcome even in the restaurant!

We stayed at this hotel with our dog for 2 nights. The service was really friendly and extremely helpful (eg I needed some emergency clothes washing when I arrived and they very happily and obligingly washed, dried and returned the clean clothes to our room within a few hours with no extra charge). The food and drinks were fantastic (better than I think their website shows). The hotel generally has tonnes of old world character whilst being in great condition. The location is amazing - especially for hiking and dog walking in Dartmoor. I really hope to go back next time I’m in the area and would highly recommend others do to.

This is a wonderful pub, The rooms are beautifully decorated, impeccably clean, and incredibly comfortable, making for a truly relaxing stay. One delightful touch was the homemade shortbread left for guests to enjoy with their tea or coffee—such a lovely treat! Breakfast was a highlight of my visit, featuring a delicious array of hot options that catered to all tastes. The atmosphere throughout the pub is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. I also appreciated the fact that dogs are treated as important guests alongside their humans, which adds to the friendly and inclusive vibe. Overall, this pub is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a cozy getaway with exceptional hospitality. I can't wait to return!

We had a fantastic time at The White Hart Hotel. The staff was brilliant and always happy to help, the breakfasts was delicious (and had many vegan options!). The pub was cosy and apart from free pool and darts, there were also many board games etc. The location is great for hiking on Moors. We will be back.

We stayed in an Airbnb literally across the road and it looked like our Airbnb was up a little dirt track but it wasn't it was a nice house I can't say anything about the hotel because we did not stay in there but the food was amazing atmosphere was good so was the service as well it's kid and pet friendly We stayed at our Airbnb for a week and we ate here five nights out of seven which tells you something the food was good would highly recommend but as I said I'm afraid I cannot say anything about the hotel because we did not stay in it

We stopped three nights mid week over a wet and wild November and really enjoyed our stay. The staff are extremely friendly, the hotel has a cozy, country feel and is beautifully decorated (I believe the new owners have renovated it over the last year) and our room was comfortable and homely with the home made shortbread a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent; one of the best full English I’ve had for a good while cooked fresh to order. We ate in the restaurant the first night and our food was excellent, beautifully presented and delicious. There’s no parking for the hotel - we used the station road car park 30 metres down the road that charges £4.50 for 24 hours. It’s a great location for exploring Dartmoor and exploring further afield (we went to RHS Rosemoor which was 55 mins away and well worth the journey). Would definitely recommend.

An absolute gem of a hotel. We stayed here for two nights with our Labrador dog. A friendly welcoming hotel with exceptional customer service, exquisite food, beautifully appointed rooms and cosy lounge and bar. Our dog was welcomed in all areas of the hotel including the restaurant. A dog bed was provided in the room with dog bowls snacks and a ball for her to play with. Her bed was even made up each morning like ours was. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and we were soon made to feel part of the white heart family. James and Hannah have renovated this beautiful old building exquisitely with stunning attention to detail. Creating a real luxury environment which is both relaxed and homely. Toby the chef and his team prepares top class food that rivals any high class restaurant. There are lovely walks and activities nearby. This is a hotel that is a real gem, beautifully appointed, great quality and great value for money we will definitely be back again
